Lightning Like Scissors is Brighton’s first non-binary, gender neutral barber shop and hair colour specialist, offering a friendly and safe space for the Intersectional LGBTQIA+ community.
Not only are we the first salon to offer specialist gender affirming haircare, we are the only salon to approach our customer service and policy from a trauma informed perspective. Our staff are trained and certified Mental Health First Aid Officers(MHFA & ASIST).
We are a Neuroqueer space, run by Neuroqueers! Which means We celebrate Neurodiversity and are experts in neurodivergent friendly haircare! Providing a wholistic experience for you to express yoursel freely, without judgement.

With over 20 years experience in modern hairdressing and traditional barbering techniques you can expect the smoothest skinfades, the sharpest precision cuts and alternative hairstyles. Ranging from short hairstyles to long hairstyles, classic looks to extreme looks and everything in between.

Whilst we love a good natter, we can cut the chit-chat and let enjoy your appointment in peace and quiet. Just say yes to the option when booking your appointment. I promise we will not be offended!
We also specialise in free-hand/patterns/tattoo hair art for people who want a bit of an individual look added to an undercut or haircut. You can choose to create your own unique piece of hair art on the day with your stylist, transfer your chosen design/stencil or give us creative license to create something for you . It is entirely up to you.
